Ubiquitous Extended Reality. Challenges of the Metaverse.

“Ubiquitous Extended Reality” (UER for short) is supposed to combine the technologies of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) in a terminological twist. The current study of the Darmstadt research group is dealing with two major questions: 1.) How to design the technologies in order to generate a useful and positive interaction concept, and 2.) Which possible negative effects could arise from these technologies when integrated into everyday life? (The focus is on individual effects regarding health, sensation and personal rights, but also on possible social problems).
