The challenge

Systems based on artificial intelligence (AI) can provide people with support in their decision-making when facing complex problems. In this way, AI applications can analyse data from image-based medical diagnostic procedures with a high degree of accuracy and can therefore be used in medical practice to support decision-making. The use of such systems, however, raises new metacognitive questions about the form of interaction and the influence of AI support on human decision-making.
