Project description:
The comprehensive and highly sensitive analysis of the air exhaled by patients has great potential to revolutionize diagnosis and prevention of diseases as well as the monitoring of therapies. Currently however, there is no suited analytical method for comprehensive breath gas sensing that can be employed routinely at the point-of-care. This is the point we want to address by researching highly selective and sensitive laser-spectroscopic techniques for breath gas sensing. The focus is on researching a laboratory system and demonstrating the techniques feasibility. It will be essential to bring together the previously disconnected fields of medical and quantum technology in an interdisciplinary project. The project's vision is to develop an advanced, quantum-based medical technique for gas analysis that can be used in medical diagnostics and environmental health.
