Safety-critical infrastructures: networked security – networked responsibility?

2020/10/27 18:00-21:00 by

„FiF-DenkRaum“ becomes „FiF-DenkZoom“.

Topic: Safety-critical infrastructures: networked security – networked responsibility?

Date: 27.10.2020

Room: Zoom-Meeting-Room

Time: 18:00 bis 20:00

Presentation: Prof. Markus Lederer (Dep. 2), Prof. Alfred Nordmann (Dep. 2) and Prof. Christian Reuter (Dep. 20)

About the topic:

In the course of the increasing optimisation and networking of systems, ever greater mutual dependencies arise between various devices and actors. Safety-critical infrastructures represent a particular challenge, because basic needs such as nutrition, health care or mobility cannot be satisfied without them. Their functionality is threatened by natural factors such as earthquakes or extreme weather events in times of changing climate, by complexity related systematic factors and the human factor, but also intensified by cyber attacks. Questions of ascription are becoming more and more difficult to answer and require a definition of the responsibility of end-users, authorities, companies or infrastructure providers. The difficulties of technical control and systematic action already experienced in medieval cities will also affect the smart cities of the future.

Which role does government supervision play in the protection of critical infrastructures? Where are the limitations between the demand for security and the surveillance society, between privacy and transparency?

About the format:

The presence format temporarily turns into a digital format, and from the physical space we move into the digital one. “FiF-DenkRaum” becomes the “FiF-DenkZoom”. You will receive further information about the procedure and the link to dial-in by e-mail from us after your registration.

Registration:

We would like to particularly invite professors, young researchers and employees of the TU Darmstadt who would like to participate in the dialogue. An academic degree (i.e. at least M.A.) and TU membership are required.

Due to organisational reasons, participation is only possible with a registration with the keyword DenkRaum (fif@fif.tu-darmstadt.de) until October 11, 2020.

Further information can be found on the website of the FiF DenkRäume .
